A lot of people (including myself) are trying to build mini / niche sites which rank very easily and to a very specific target audience. I have also larger blogs, such as this one, which have a more long term vision but that takes time and a lot more effort.
How To Start Niche Websites
I’m going passed the fact that you have to buy a domain name and set up a blog as that is pretty much the easy part. The trick is how to find the RIGHT domain and get the RIGHT traffic to your site which convert in affiliate sales.
The biggest trick is the right domain name. This is the keyword research part of niche websites. You need to know what keywords are used just enough to get you a decent amount of traffic, but are not too competitive so that more affiliate marketers are going for the same keyword.
One of the software products that can help is “The Long Tail Pro“.
This software is super duper (yes I said duper) easy to use if you compare it with Marketing Samurai. I own both and the difference is huge. The price of both products are the same but the Long Tail Pro is just easier to use.. which is a reason I will use it a lot more than Market Samurai.
I literally just bought the software today and I can’t wait to get going so see this as my early long tail pro review but keep an eye out on the site so you can learn as I am planning to release a few video’s to show you exactly what you can expect.
I’ll add a few screenshots here just to show you how easy it is to use and it does what it is supposed to do >> FIND MONEY MAKING KEYWORDS <<
When you first purchased the product this is the first screen you will see. You see on the top there are 3 different menu’s; Keyword Research, Competitor Analysis and Rank Checker.

Since I just purchased the software there aren’t any campaigns up that I can show you. But if you add one you get the following screen. You can set up various campaigns for every project you are planning on tackling. Make sure you fill in the right country you want to go in. If you do set it up incorrectly, you can always alter this along the way.

Once you have set up your campaign you should also have a peek on your competitors. This allows you to see how competitive the market is and how long it would take to get to the top of Google. You see how competitive it is and how many backlinks are to that domain.
So this was the Long Tail Pro Review but don’t worry, I’ll update my findings and share this with you. But if you want to have a look of what Long Tail Pro can do for you have a look.
Talk soon!

Hello Ralph
I have just been reading the erudite discussion between you and others on Rob Cubbon’s group on LinkedIn, Niche Site Marketing. Just wanted to say ‘Hi’ and let you know I will follow your discussion there and your blog here to find out more about what you think of LTP when you get to use it more.
Thanks for your insights. They are very valuable to a complete beginner.
Cheers from Caitlin Foster in South-East Queensland
PS: Lived in Sydney for 33 years before ‘tree changing’ to the Darling Downs 8.5 years ago; I know the joint well. My two brothers live in Mona Vale and Queenscliff; I lived in Manly for 11 years; we were brought up in Pymble. I hear storms lashed Sydney this evening before coming up here to lash us. Keep your rotten weather to yourself, thanks. (Lol …)
haha, Hey Caitlin I currently live in Drummoyne and have lived in Ryde before (went to Macquarie Unie actually) so know Pymble. Also went to a few classes in Manly at the ICMS (that castle in the top) for about 2 years and love Manly
Weather is so weird here at the moment
passing it on every chance we get
Hi Ralph
Caitlin again; back much sooner than I anticipated.
I decided after sending you the above email that I would click on the link to my website I gave you just to have a look at the ‘shell’ it is in order to do some creative visualisation of it packed with fantastic content visitors and subscribers love, loads of positive feedback in comments from adoring hordes of fans, etc. To my absolute horror, I found the link took me to a website which is NOT mine; it has MY domain name but not my content.
The computer man I hired up here in January last year to help me set up my website registered two domain names for me – http://www.om-entelechy.com (the hijacked domain name) and http://www.omentelechy.com.au. The two domain names are meant to link to each other so it doesn’t matter which URL a person types into a search engine, the result will take them to the one website.
I am feeling sick in my stomach that my domain name has been hijacked; I am not sufficiently Web-literate to know how this was done from a technical standpoint. I am going to send him an email after writing to you to let him know this has happened and ask him to fix it first thing Monday when he resumes work after the weekend.
I don’t know how long the domain name http://www.om-entelechy.com has led people to the hijack website; it could have been like this since I stopped working on development in June 2011 when I was interrupted by A Major Life Event which is only now coming to an orderly close. I don’t think anyone would ever have clicked on my URL as there is no reason for them to; everyone I know – family, friends and business contacts – knows I haven’t been working on my website for the past eight months as I ensure I ‘keep people in the loop’.
Just wanted to let you know if you have even the slightest bit of interest in what I plan to do, the domain name which I own which IS operating correctly is http://www.omentelechy.com.au.
There’s bugger-all there, but at least it exists. (In Joomla; I want to connect with Rob to get it transferred to WordPress, as he has convinced me WP is much easier to learn.)
Thank you. Bye for now.
Caitlin
I think with the hijacked domain it just needs to be re-directed properly as it currently is just a holding page.
Have you tried to contact your domain guy to ask what he did?
I’ve worked with Joomla and it is a lot more clicking. WordPress is just so easy.. I’ve started using it about 2 years ago and just works the way it works and sooo much forums to help you out.
